Go for it Timothy Barber! I replied to the subject before reading your post. I guess I must be twisted as well!

Being from the wild-eyed radical fringe, our fellowship took it one step
further and eliminated Christmas altogether as a church event. No muss,
no fuss, problem solved!

(stepping onto soapbox)

IMHO, when the cultural pressure of expectation surrounding a holiday is
so great that the worship leaders, preachers etc. cannot realistically do
anything but go along with the program, it's time to bail. Especially
when the traditions are as dubious as those surrounding Christmas.
Instead of trying to keep Christ in Christmas, I say let's stop trying to
PUT Him in where He never fit very well. The holy and vital truth of the
Incarnation suffers diminished impact in the eyes of the world by its
inclusion in that stewpot of vague paganism and commercialism.

Scanning for life-forms.... hope I didn't just blow everyone away :-)

To try and justify this as a worship post, does anyone else use Christmas
music the *rest* of the year? I love "Joy to the World" as a great
worship song any time. It sounds great in July. (I also like to do
Easter songs on Dec. 25, maybe I'm just twisted).

Enough rambling......sorry Joe, I guess I wasn't much help with your
original question.

Higher up and further in!
