Re: [Worship] piano v. guitar
Hi
Its been a loooong time since I posted so I'll just reintroduce myself. I
come from a small, independant, cell-based church called El Shaddai in Cape
Town, South Africa. I have been involved in worship for about 15 years
playing keyboard, guitar and saxophone and leading on the odd occasion.
We have 3 worship teams, 2 of which are lead by keyboardists and the other of
which is lead by a guitarist (male) on a Fender electric accompanied by 1
female vocalist, an accoustic guitar, bass guitar and drums. While we don't
encourage competition between groups, IMHO, the guitar only bassed group is
working out the best at the moment - no I don't play in that group :-)
I see no reason why a competent musician should be less able to lead worship
because he plays an instrument other than a keyboard. Sure, the style of
some songs will change, but variety is the spice of life hey!
