Re: [Worship] Laying down worship ministry?

I have to agree. My wife and I were worship leaders/music ministers for 5
years at our church. There were a few things that happened along the way and
we moved to northern California to attend school. We came back and felt a
little like fish out of water. We began to lead worship once again at our
old home fellowship, but there's no room at the church. Friends and others
tell us "God really wants to use you."
Well, he is and does. We recently began leading worship for another church
where our old church meets.
God works in mysterious and humorous ways. The pastor of this new church is
a man I used to witness to about 12 years ago. He and I would talk and argue
and reason. He moved away and we never heard from one another again. A few
weeks ago, we were at church, and this guy walks in. I kind of recognized
him...and then it hit me.
"Hey man! You're the guy who duct taped my bible shut twelve years ago!" I
guess I was really zealous when I first got saved. He said that what
attracted him to the Lord was not what I said, but the way I said it. He
wanted the Passion that I had.
Now, he's a pastor, and boy does he have Passion. He said he needed help
with music as they had been using CD's for 9 months. (Former worship leader
quit.)
They started with 15 people 9 months ago and now have 175. God is really
awesome.
Anyway, "A man's gift makes room for him...." and "God's gift and his call
are without revocation." Don't put down the guitar altogether unless God
says "PUT DOWN THE GUITAR!" (i've been there before, for a time and season).
Continue to play at home, worshiping the Lord with your family. As long as
there's an open door at your home group, do it there too. As doors open,
remember, "no one can shut" them.
God bless you!
Keith
