Here's a couple of quick thoughts.

I too have heard that comment.  We do about the same (5-7 songs total).
Some people who say it is too long (most actually) are your fringe people...
you know... people that aren't really into worship in the first place.  All
they know is that they are bored, thus it's just too long.  Honestly, I
haven't found a way around that except to pray that God would draw them unto
Himself.

The second factor for me, is the song selection itself.  It seems that when
the right songs are selected and presented in the right way, that time is
not nearly as much a factor.  The problem is many times you don't know how
"on target" you are until after you've done them.  But since you're
relatively new in your service style, it will take a little trial and error
on your part to see what works at your fellowship.

Rest assured though... you're not the first to hear that comment.  I heard
it two weeks ago, in fact!
