Hey, that's really funny.

IMHO, it really depends upon two things:  

(1) the guitarist and
(2) the sound or tone

The best example I can think of is Tony Palacios from Guardian.  He 
is a monster guitar player with a very "big" sound.  He is such a 
great player that he just "fills up" the empty spots.  Another great 
example is Nuno Bettencourt (of Extreme, a secular band).

If the guitarist is just strumming chords through a cheap guitar and 
amp, then you really need to ask God send you a bassist and/or 
keyboardist.
