I lead from electric guitar. Originally, I tried doing this when there
was only my voice (male), a female voice and an acoustic guitar. It did
work but I found it pretty "thin". When keys were added (love those
organ and synth patches!) I could lead pretty comfortably from my
electric guitar since we had some bottom end in our sound.

On ocassion I still lead when there are only two of us (male voice,
female voice and acoustic guitar). When doing so however, I now usually
use my acoustic rather than my electric.
