True - it was because of their separate and distinct lifestyle that made
them do that. Like their master they were 'holy, undefiled and separate
from sinners.' They had turned from self to to the one who 'endured such
condradiction of sinners against himself' - because of that they were
persecuted. They did not seek 'friendship with the world' because they
knew that 'frindship with the world is enmity with God'

Well - it doesn't - it set free to worship in spirit and in truth the one
who said - 'Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.

When and where did Jesus say that???

In fact Christs 'system' if that's what it is! says God first. You shall
love the Lord your God with all your heart etc.

(The tie in fact is a hand down from the french revolution when the rioting
peasants tied a rag around their throats to show they were not
aristrocrats! It was a sign of freedom!. The wearing of 'Sunday best was a
very genuine 'change from the drab and rough and often very dirty working
clothes worn by the majority of folk. It had nothing to do with what was
'moral and acceptable - it was just plain nice to do!)
Bless you Matt - I know what you're saying though. God looks on the heart
and not on the outward apperance. However - If you read carefully through
the Bible you will find a certain measure of interest on the part of God in
what we wear - and a few hints at 'dress code' for both men and women.
In our fellowship I expect tolerance and understanding for each other -
whatever we wear.
Love - Ed
