[Worship] vocal training?

Hello all again!

What a blessing you all are! I so enjoy posting and anticipating replies
to my many simple, yet important questions in my little world!

This one is touchy. We have seven vocalists on our team, three men and
four women. Of them, seriously, only two can really sing well. Two more
can sing fair, and the other three are questionable as to whether they
could carry a tune in a bucket or not! Now, you must understand, some of
these people are on the team by sheer inheritance. A couple of them were
added by our lack of wisdom in some sort of audition. So, as you can see,
we have somewhat of a touchy situation. The people on the team are good
worshipers---they just can't sing too well.
My question is, do we approach with vocal training? Do we turn the mics
down and put them waaaaaaaay in the background? Or do we say "so sorry,
you just aren't what we're looking for"? I think they may be trainable,
and if so, what sort of approach would you use to begin the process?

Blessings to all this week!

Mike (vdbtr)
