Re: [Worship] vocal training?

I'm working with 8 singers in two groups of four. We have made some real
progress in the areas you mention. Some were quite challenging too.

If you have someone familiar with vocal technique have them spend 10
mins going over vocal fundementals. Breathing, diction, etc. This has
helped our "less gifted" singers a great deal.

That's what we've done, at least til they improve some. We've been very
careful in doing this and so far not one has complained about not being
able to hear themselves. That shows me how much improvement they need in
basic listening skills, but hey, they worship the Lord in purity and
fulness and it's a joy to work with them. They want to learn and their
faithfulness is encouraging.

Or do we say "so sorry,

Could come down to that if it's just a total distraction. I'm glad I
haven't had to do that so far.

I think they may be trainable,

Again, the basics of singing. Breathe from your gut, not your lungs,
tighten your rear end to avoid singing flat, sing some scales or a song
on the way to warm up, and over enunciate the diction. Open the mouth
wide and use the head to resonate. At least IMHO.

Oh yeah, pray!
