[Worship] [worship] Being a worshipper

My parents moved around when I was smaller and during my training I moved
5 times. Every place I went I looked for a church that served the local
community, was God centered and was open to change. This means I've been to
at least 9 denominations, from Welsh presy to independent/vineyard.
I count myself very lucky to have the church background I have. Why? because
I have few inhibitions. No matter what type of service I'm in I feel
comfortable and I can move into worship. I was very pleased when fairly
recently our worship group introduced rotas so everyone has at least one
sunday off a month, and alternates for the other meetings. I have seen
changes in the teams attitudes in their personnal worship in the congregation.
My advice to you would be ensure that you can spend time in the congregation
on a regular basis. Sometimes I have to battle against my predudices to enter
worship. Thoughts fly through my head like "he's really putting me off
playing like that". Who should care what the music is like? Nobody. God
just wants us to have a big heart to worship him. You obviously have a heart
for worship, its just a case of training it to respond under different
circumstances. It takes time to learn to switch off from distractions and
concentrate on him. While you are leading you can switch the distractions of
physically but while you are in the congregation you have to worship despite
the distractions! In a way we worship team/leaders have it easy because we
get to call the shots! We get to do music we like etc..
