Re: Re:[Worship] elec guitar

I have a difficult time knowing what kind of sound to shoot for. I play
with a pianist and bassist (both excellent, especially the bassist). What
sounds good to me when I'm practicing solo doesn't necessarily sound good
with other instruments, especially the piano. For instance: I had a Gibson
style electric--pretty dark sound. I couldn't hear anything I played
unless I had it turned up *really* loud--the sound was too similar to the
piano, IMHO, and got swallowed.

Now I'm playing an Alvarez acoustic with a DiMarzio pickup, through a Fuzz
with EQ (for boost and EQ, not for distortion) and a Peavey Backstage 50.
I've got everything set up to give me a reasonably Fenderish sound--twang
and bite, kind of cutting. I *don't* have to be very loud to be heard.
But I wish I had a better idea of what I wanted--about all I'm really doing
is shooting for the rhythm guitar sound I hear on Eric Johnson CDs, I don't
really know if it's best for worship.
