[Worship] starting a second worship team

Just wanted to share my experience in developing worship teams...I must
say, it's been fun. We felt it very important to begin a 2nd worship
team in our church. Even though we are quite small (about 80 people)
Worship is a very integral and important part of our makeup and I thought
it was the right time to begin developing more leaders and also hopefully
diversify our worship somewhat. This was confirmed to me when we left on
Christmas holidays, and came back to comments like, "church was okay, but
there was something really missing in the worship"....even though the
worship times were led by different people who had experience, and gifts
but I think lacked a very necessary ingrediant. They were not "worship
leaders", both in their own eyes, and in the eyes of the people. So
anyway the 2nd worship team had their first time "at bat" on Sunday.
Although the new worship leader had led before, he usually had me or his
wife to bail him out if he got into trouble, and when he did lead before,
he was just filling in for me.... but yesterday he was on his own with
his own team, and before worship started the leadership appointed him to
be a Worship Leader, in front of the congregation and prayed for the new
team. It was so cool to be able to be in on the process of seeing God
pour out his annointing on whom He had chosen. I was faithful and taught
him what I could, during this last year, and on Sunday, all I did was
show up to their pre-service practice, help with the sound check, pray
with them, and then sat down. And the worship was wonderful, and the
people of the congregation followed eagerly...all in all I found it very
rewarding.
Can't wait to see how much more God has in store...
