[Worship] re:thoughts on improv and kids (was Intro, Q&Com)

Beth,

Yours was one of the posts that came to me about 7 screens wide. I do
not have the capacity in my limited software to narrow it down. Maybe
yours can wrap it before you send it??

To your questions about improv and my hopes for fluency in a
keyboardist.

One technique that has worked for my wife when she taught keys has to do
with getting it started early before they find out as adults that "it's
hard!" One of her techniques was to get kids to play simple tunes in
many different keys. Then minor. Then different meter (3/4 instead of
4/4). Some of the older students liked these excercizes and continued
them into style changes. Try Mary had a little lamb in rag time or as a
lullabye or maybe black gospel?? Doesn't work with all tunes, but it
makes the kid think and use the creative juices that the Creator put in
them.
