[Worship] Using - I Could Sing...

Paul and List,

The first time I introduced "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" was in a church which uses a mix of hymns and choruses. I thought it would be difficult for them to grasp the rhythm of the song, but to my surprise even this "curse of the 1 and 3" church picked it up rather quickly. I believe the words really hit them and they took ownership of the song. If I remember correctly, I introduced the song during an altar time and then used it in a set the next service.

We use this song in campus ministry and they love it. We are currently leading worship at a church where the average age is about 24. They consume tunes like this quite readily and we are pressed to add more Deliriou5? stuff fast enough.

I have really found introducing songs during altar time to be extremely successful. Just yesterday we used "Shout To The North" during altar service -- this was not exactly a quiet time, we had just heard a message about stretching your tents and reanchoring your stakes. We saw many people moving into worship instead of returning to their chairs and the lyrics were really taking root. The band hadn't even practiced the song yet, but I knew it and felt it was simple enough for them to catch on, and is was a great time to bring it in. Normally I don't ask the band to do a number we haven't practiced during an altar service. Usually we've worked on it and have it lined up as an alternate song in a set. In this case it worked but I would be extremely hesitant to use a musically complex song without practice.

Don't know if this helps, but my experience with the song has been that it is really well received.
