Re: [Worship] Taking A Break!

Hey Dan and Moe (and others):

When you are in a place like this look around. I have been on
the other side of this situation and have been equally frustrated.
I have seen 3 worship leaders burn out, and it is because they try to
do everything. Meanwhile, I am trying like crazy to get them to
let go of some of their hundreds of responsibilities to other people.
I am facing this situation now, where our leader is losing the
vision and is starting to go thru the motions. I took over the whole
March for Jesus thing for him tomorrow. All he has to do is show up
and play.

If you look around, you will probably find lots of people who
are more than willing to help out, if you'd give them a chance.
Sometimes, by always saying yes to everything, all the holes get
filled and there's no room for others to join in. You may have a
drummer in your congregation that just says that he's not as good
as you, so there is no reason to play. But, if there were a service
or two with no drums, he may very well say that he's better than
nothing and jump in. Sometimes the gaps have to show before people
volunteer to fill them...

I advise finding the thing that God has really placed a
heartfelt desire for you, and stick to it. If there is a big
hole, and no-one else steps forward, take it for a season only.
In other words, set a priority and stick to it. If you are a
keyboard player first and foremost, only sing or play drums when
it is absolutely necessary, and then only if it doesn't interfere
with your keyboard playing...

Of course, all of this with a sober warning: Don't get
territorial about it. (I AM the keyboard player, no one else need
apply!)
