Aside from your current problem between people in your church family, I
would just encourage everyone involved to carefully consider the potential
ramifications of leaving children unattended anywhere in today's society.

Our church is working through policies and such dealing with the safety of
the children in our congregation in light of some scary things happening in
the world these days, so this is really at the front of my mind right now.

Just something to think about.
