RE: [Worship] Taking A Break!

Hey Dan (and everyone else)
I say "amen" to everyone's comments. Set your boundaries, and just
concentrate on doing your strengths well.

To add to the discussion, I take some time occaisionally to converse
with God about how my ministry is going. In many ways, it's not that
different from the status meetings I try to have with my bosses
at work (except the Lord is looking out for my best interests 100%).
What are should I prioritize (and this is something I try to get
specific about)? What I should cut out? What are the near-term
goals He has for me? What should I add? How are things, really?
I avoid making any regular commitment unless I am sure He is leading
me to do so (i.e. I say "Not yet" a lot).

At my church, it would have been easy for me to add playing bass on top
of playing guitar. But I said NO to that because I didn't sense
the Lord's leading for me to play bass. It turns out we're doing
just fine, because my church has about 5 bass-players (2 active).
As of now, I'm the only active electric guitar player. And although
I have the gifts and abilities to do so, I haven't become active
in our Soaking Prayer Teams, nor have I tried to lead a small group.
These commitments make sense when I know that the Lord's desire
for me was to focus on relationships with people first, and then
on service second. Just hope to share my experiences so that
people could be blessed.

In Christ,
Alan
