[Worship] I'm sure it has happened to you, right?

Dear List,

Ever lead a congregational hymn and for some reason forget what verse you were
on and wonder if you have sung all the verses already? I was leading Sunday
night the old hymn "The Banner of the Cross" and had told the congregation we
would sing all four verses! When I got to the end of the third verse and
chorus, I had no idea where I was or if I had sung the fourth verse
yet...well, I held on to that last note long like I do when I know where I am,
which prompts the audience and accompanists and orchestra to know(as we have
rehearsed ahead of time) its time for the next song, so the organist can
modulate for the new key of the next song..so we went on to the next
song...only later after the service to find out from some in the congregation
WHO KNEW WHERE WE WERE that I had in fact skipped the last verse!

Of course, I know that nothing like that has ever happened to you, right?

Singmerrily yours,
Richard
