[Worship] Re:Changing Instruments

I have been using a sequencer to lead worship for the last 3 years and have
always had a problem with the time it takes to load up the next song, which
takes about 10-15 seconds. That is when 10-15 seconds seems like a
lifetime. That moment of silence was a problem to myself and to the pastor
as we were used to having a guitar player lead worship and the transitions
between songs was easier. In the last year we have begun to transition
between songs by singing the chorus in a repeat accapella, some free
worship with vocals only, words of prayer or exhortation by the pastor or
other team member or just silence. I want to thank Bob Sperlazzo for
pointing out that worship is not a performance or an orchestrated (by
humans) endeavor. I think we put all these hindrances in our own way, such
as loading a song or changing a guitar. We should learn to worship with the
tools and people that we have available. We should not try to emulate the
sound or flow of the latest worship CD. Just look at the credits on the CD
and see the number of professional musicians, backup singers and of course
the tracks that were added in the studio. We worship to "an audience of
One".
