It also really depends on the piano.  When I play the beautiful
Steinway at chapel, I notice that certain bass keys are out
of tune, and things sound weird.  But hey, the Steinway
has a tone that just can't be beat.  On my digital at home, every
note is in tune, and I can do whatever I'd like to do on
the left-hand.

Or it can depend on the bass player ... did you know that
guitars and basses are not "well-tempered."  I.E. they
are not necesarily tuned so that they sound good in all
keys.  A piano is supposed to be well-tempered, so hence
sometimes guitar/bass do clash with the piano.
