[Worship] the "bar scene"

everybody's thoughts are on taking a band of worshipers, musicians and
singers, a sound system and lights, and doing the "bar" scene. Are we as
Christian to be doing this sort of ministry? Do you think that God wills
that we do it? I know what I think. I am just wondering about all of you?"
One of the guitarists on our worship team regularly plays in one of the
clubs here in town with a small handful of folks. They sing original songs
that talk very specifically about God and Jesus.
He was unsure if this ministry would work, but the club owner keeps asking
him back to play. I would assume that means there are people who keep
requesting them.
I'm in Austin, Texas (the live music capitol of the world - or so they say)
and there is a great abundance of secular bands that the club owner has to
choose from.
My own feeling is if God is leading you in this direction, you need to do
it. I would be upfront with the owner of the establishment and let him know
what type of music you'll be playing. I wouldn't want to alienate the owner
and turn them off to Christianity for the sake of trying to "reach" others.
Just my thoughts,
Jeff Pile
