I would agree that the "C" weighting filter on a SPL meter should be
used in most live sound concerts, musicals, etc..  Remember that the
human ear resembles the "A" weighting at low levels only (such as
speech) according to the Fletcher-Munson curve.

For the Radio Shack SPL meter,
C weighting is -5 dB @ 20Hz
B weighting is -20 dB @ 20Hz
A weighting is -45 dB @ 20Hz

Note that the A weighting is +3 dB at 2 kHz.
