SING THE LORD A NEW SONG!

(pastoral message, week 39, from The Netherlands)

PASTORAL MESSAGE, week 39, Sunday, 20 September 1998

"O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the
LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his
glory among the nations, his marvellous works among all the peoples!" Psalm
96:1-3. (Rev. Stand. Version)

When the Spirit of the living God, the Creator of heaven and earth, can
dwell in the heart of man and inspire it, there will be an enormous release
of creative potential. The Spirit of God wants to channel this creativity in
an expression of praise- and worship to God.

Sing to the LORD a new song. Some are against new songs in praise and
worship of God. But the continual birth of news songs can nevertheless
surely be an indication of an authentic work of Gods Spirit. As we see,
David, the inspired singer, calls for creativity in expression towards God,
in making new songs.

Praise and worship shall not only be creative but also communicative: "Tell
of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his
marvellous works among all the peoples." Songs inspired by the Spirit carry
the message from man to man, from tribe to tribe, from nation to nation.
This is the vision: God's praise will unceasingly be sung in creative ways
from this rotating planet. The isles in the Pacific: Praise the LORD! Asia:
Praise the LORD! Australia, awake: Praise the LORD! Europe and Africa,
awake: Praise the LORD! North and South America, awake: Praise the LORD!
Yes, sing unto the LORD a new song in every language! Isn't fantastic that
God has populated a planet in this solar system with men and women, who will
extol his greatness, goodness, grace and power! Wherever you may be,
somewhere lonely as a missionary or on a business trip, or in the midst of
your church in your country and town, let's all praise the LORD and sing a
new song to the honour of his Name. The Spirit can even inspire to
expression of praise and worship in an unknown tongue - a real Pentecostal
miracle!
