[Worship] RE: Praise Band Mix

To Richard and list,

While I agree with nearly everything you say here (especially the bass
player having to "feel" his sound), I am one musician who wants to here
everything that is going on.  I have two reasons for this:  1) I received
most of my music training and experience playing in concert bands and
singing in choirs, where I learned to judge volume and balance against what
I was hearing; and 2) I want to be able to hear any prophetic playing and/or
singing that is happening so I won't be overriding it or so I can add to it.
These things are true whether I am leading or just one of the team members.

By the way, I usually have the fewest problems with my monitor mix (we use
headphones) because I don't need to hear mostly myself and, therefore, am
not drowing out anything else or thinking I am being drowned out.  I guess I
have a fairly "democratic" mix in my ears. (Is that biblical?)
