I've seen this topic touched on a number of times on the
list (technical excellence vs. attitude of heart). I don't
think there is a right or wrong here; we are all called to
follow God and how He is leading us in terms of preparation,
etc. But in my case, if I allow myself to place too much
emphasis on the aspects of musical preparation and
excellence, I start to lose touch with my total and complete
dependence on God. I need to be standing in front of Him and
His people with a clear sense that it is only by His grace
that I can do what He has called me to do.
