My favourite example of "other ways to worship besides
singing" is staff-leaning.
"By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph's
sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff."
Heb. 11:21, NIV
I love this picture of worship because the only external
thing that was going on was an old man leaning on the top of
his staff. Inwardly, though, what was going on was that
. . . Jacob . . . worshiped . . .
I believe that this inward worship was what Jesus meant when
he said that " . . the true worshippers will worship the
Father in spirit in truth, for they are the kind of
worshippers the Father seeks". John 4:23
For me this means that every outward form of worship is
valid if it is accompanied by the worship from our spirits.
And no form of outward worship is valid if it is not
accompanied by worship from our spirit, i.e., if our "heart
is not in it". That is what I think "in spirit and truth"
means.
