Re: [Worship] flat singer...

"...why would you not graceously tell someone
that they are singing flat? The bottom line is that if you try to hide it
in the mix somehow, it will never be resolved"

I agree totally with that. I have a friend who absolutely love to worship
and you can see it in her life ... but she is absolutely tone deaf ...
completely.
She has tried lessons, but nothing works. But I personally like to keep her
on the team because of the lifestyle worship that she has.

She is not miked, but that isn't a problem for her, she sings with all her
heart.
And she expresses herself to the Lord outwardly too. She knows she is tone
deaf, but it doesn't stop her from worshipping ... and when she does find
the
key of the song (most of the time by mistake) her voice is beautiful.

I totally agree with the bottom line statement from above. When I started
leading worship, I tended to never sing on key. I've worked on it over the
years and I'm not Terry Butler, Kent Henry, or Ron Kenoly, but what the
Lord looks at is the heart ... I hope he sees a pure heart in me. When the
sound people turn me down in the mix it is very discouraging, especially if
I'm leading ... so I'd agree just work with the person and help them along,
they may not be the next Loralee Thiessen or Martin Smith, but they will
be able to give their whole heart in service to the Lord and to the church.
