Stephen,
Hi. Having read your post, I think that maybe seeking balance (big "B") is
the key thing. Like in Deut. 6 in which the Shma is found...to love the Lord
with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Oftentimes many Christians
want to worship with all their mind, other just their soul (read emotions?).
But I believe that it's important to have some sense of balance with all of
these elements of our being. Kind of like a wheel with four spokes. If one
spoke is a different size, the wheel is untrue. The Father is seeking
worshippers who worship in spirit and truth. I also believe that as we seek
this balance, there may be a tendency to ebb and flow in any one aspect.
Remember, too, Ezekiel's vision of the wheel. Christ is indeed the center.
It all revolves around him, eminates from him, is for him. On a larger
scale, maybe we all help to balance each other out. Some have a propensity
toward emotionally based worship, while others are more intellectual. So
each of us doing our part as God has designed us may sort of balance us all
out corporately.
Anyway, great post and very thought provoking.
God bless,
Keith
