[Worship] Saul and David
Dear List,
One part often overlooked in David's playing for King Saul is that, on
the two other occasions he played when the evil spirit came upon Saul,
he tried to kill David with a javelin (1 Samuel 18: 10-12; 19: 9-10).
This should be taken into account when a person is called to minister
to people who are jealous of others' ministries, even as Saul was very
jealous of David killing more than he had killed. David also had been
called to minister to the king when the evil spirit came upon him, so
he was submitting himself to authority and God's anointed one, though
by the second time he assuredly knew Saul was out to get him. Notice
how the second time, when David began playing, Saul had the javelin IN
HIS HAND when, the other time, he had picked it up because it was not
in his hand at the time. But David attended to his ministry, knowing
the Lord would take care of him and provide an escape for him. I hope
this encourages all of you.
Your Net.Brother In Christ,
Michael Rew
