One thing you can do is get a switch.  We have one for our system thaat
switches from 2 videos and the overhead.  We just switch it to the fourth
position to turn the screen blank.  There is on most laptops an F11 key or
something that will turn off the video send to anything but the laptop
screen.  It is an option.  The switch was something we ordered with our
projector but you could get it at radio shack or something like that.
