Drums? Are you kidding? I already told you guys my story about the lady
who only likes drums she can't see! Actually, we have a young drummer in
the wings as well, but, at this point, using a guitar subtley, either
accoustic or electric, is pretty easy to pull off. Drums we're not quite
ready for.
The bass line could certainly be played on

I think he kind of wants to play the bass, but his parents aren't interested
in investing in another instrument. Because we are starting from a music
reading point of view I was thinking that he may not be able to play chords
in all our keys right away and that perhaps since he reads music he could do
the bass line when he can't play the chords.

I appreciate the reminder here. He's a young teen and probably won't speak
up for himself if he's unhappy, so it's good to be reminded of this.
