Subject: Playing by Ear
HELLO everyone! I just recently joined the Worship Digest List. I am really
enjoying reading all of the different comments and situations. What a
diversity!
I have been leading worship for 14 years. I love to worship the Lord if I'm
leading, or playing my guitar or keyboard at home alone with no one around
but the Lord and me! When I first walked into a church where they were
actually singing to God, I knew I'd found my place.
I originally learned to play the guitar at 15 years old. After I began to
service God and move in the ministry He had called me to, I began to desire
to play the keyboard. I wanted to worship with a worship team, but also
wanted to not have to be dependent on anyone to have to play for me to
worship! I asked the Lord to teach me. Before long I was playing the piano.
Soon I was teaching others to play. I looked for a book to use to teach out
of, but there was none. Every chord book I would find just threw all the
information at the reader with no order to it. I began making sheets to
teach my students with. Now a book has evolved from it.
The book is named "Worshiping on the Piano By Ear." It is very detailed yet
simple. There is a system and order to it that is easy to follow. I am just
now finishing up another book called, "Worshiping on the Guitar By Ear." As
soon as it is finished, I will have it ready on my web site.
This book also goes into flowing in the Spirit, playing chord progressions,
singing the Song of the Lord, etc. It is worth checking into. I've been
selling it on the Internet for a little over a year. I have received
wonderful responses from people who are worshiping the Lord in ways they
never knew they could as they learn to flow. It is good for those who play
sheet music and want to breakaway from just playing what is on the page. It
doesn't matter thought if you don't know any music at all as the black and
white keys on the keyboard are the map for learning.

I have enjoyed visiting some of your web sites also. It is awesome to share
in the Lord Jesus Christ with other worshipers!
In His love, Susan
