[Worship] Guitar Players: efx or no efx?

To you worship guitar players:

Do you use any effects or not?  I must say that I am an amp player at 
heart.  I have tried pedals and rack mounted things and like the sounds 
that I get out of them.  But at the end of the day, my favorite effect is a 
20" cord into my Ampeg VL-503 ifyouknowwhatImean.  It's easier to set up, 
and I love the pure tone one can garner out of a tube amp.   Some things I 
do use VERY sparingly:

-Crybaby Wah
-Arion Chorus & Phaser (I don't know if they make the Arion stompboxes any 
more...)

To you players who use effects how do you run them. Direct, through an amp, 
effects loop?  Do you feel it helps or hinders your tone?  Your ability to 
worship/lead?  This may seem to be a curious thread but I was just curious.
