Re: [Worship] (Worship] A Question ....(Rise to Your rest...)
The confusion is understandable, since I've heard it recorded and seen it
published with both "rise from..." and "rise to..."! With apologies to
Clare, I don't happen to have both in front of me, so I can't cite the
conflicting versions. :-)
FWIW, while Bruce has already shown the closest scriptural references, I
think the song could be successfully interpreted either way. I.e., "rise
FROM the resting place you've assumed after completing your mighty works",
or "rise TO your rest", as in ascending the temple mount to be enthroned in
His resting place.

<<Thanks for straigtening out the lyrics. It seemed odd to me that the
song should use this verse but change the preposition (though I haven't
heard it in years, so wasn't certain).>>
Fawn Rigali:
<<The words are "Come and rise to Your rest and be blest". The song is
written by Steve Fry, published in 1983 by Birdwing Music/Cherry Lane
Music.>>
