[Worship] How to build a team

<< My advice to you would be to at least make an attempt to learn about the
instruments in your group. Talk to the people who play them and find
out what they can do, can't do, prefer to do, etc. I don't know how
much music theory you know, but that will help you with the guitars and
keyboardists. For the drums, stick around after rehearsals a few times
and have the drummer demonstrate some basic beats for you. I hope this
 helps you. >>

I could not agree more! If you're serious about learning more about the
people you're working with, about the tools they use, about the needs and
gifts they have (don't ever assume you know!) then set up a small fund for
taking them out to coffee or lunch and dig in to them! People who serve in
this ministry, especially lay-people, are very passionate about what they do,
and given the chance they will talk your ear off. If you can become a student
of the people in your ministry, and the tools they use to minister, you have
more than justified that $3.50 for a cup of joe (what can I say, its
expensive out here in Los Angeles).

I think my new motto is "Coffee is cheaper than Student Loans." Its not too
catchy, I know.
