Re: [Worship] LEADING worship - Eyes

My 2 cents...

I have found that when you are under leadership (pastor, etc) that loves
to worship, you have a freedom to go where the Spirit leads during worship.
I have grown up (since 16, now 28) on a worship team where the worship
leader follows the leading of the Holy Spirit whenever possible. If this
means changing the songlist midstream, or just adding one song, so be it.
This maybe a hindrance to some people on this list, but I have grown
musically as well as spiritually in this. I have also found that I do that
now as an adult when "leading worship".
My point is, that when we are singing songs "to each other" as mentioned
earlier, yes, we should look toward the congregation to encourage them.
But, when we are worshiping God, I find that if I have my eyes open, I get
distracted sometimes by the littlest thing. Some kid might be running
across the back of the room, or there might be someone asleep during the
service. I want to be as focused on Him as I possibly can. Most people in
the congregation, if they want to go there as well, will also close their
eyes. Granted, when it's time to change songs, the band gets their "cue",
but during the intimate times of worship, my feeling is "eyes closed" hands
down (or up if I'm not actually playing an instrument).

Just lettin' ya'll know...

PS. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm new to the writing aspect of this
list. I've been lurking for a LLOONNGG time!
