Re: [Worship] Praise Band Personnel/Giving Yahweh your best!
I believe God called me to learn piano about two years ago and I started taking
lessons. At first it was for my own pleasure I was learning but after about six
months it took on a new meaning within worship, helping me write songs, learning
harmonies, etc. Our team lost it's piano player in December and I was asked to
try and play Sunday mornings and Wed nights. In a few short months I have gone
from never playing in church to playing three to four services a week. I just
share this because I believe God is calling me to lead worship with the keyboard
and I am thankful that the worship leaders and pastor were and are willing to
let me play even though I am rough around the edges. I practice and play to the
best of my ability but it is God who blesses it inspite of me. No I don't sound
as good as a professional would, I don't play fancy fills or melody lines, I
play simple chords and syncopate. But you have to start some place and then
keep moving forward. I guess I am sharing this to encourage anyone out there
who might feel if they are not a professional they shouldn't be playing. If God
has called you to do it, if you get the opportunity GO FOR IT!!! Let God do the
real work through you and you do your part by practicing a lot. God bless
everyone.
