In all chord terminology, things are built up from the "root", in A2 the
root would be "A" obviously. The "root" is 1. The chord tones 3 and 5
are assumed. You can also see 7,9,11, and 13. If you see these without
any modification, the assumption is that all the lower chord tones are
present as well. Thus a "true" A13 has the chord tones 1, 3, 5, 7, 9,
11, 13 or A, C#, E, G, B, D, F#. Incidentally, notice that the 7 is
always a "minor 7" unless modified thus: "Amaj7" or "Amaj9".

Another common modification is "sus". Originally "sus" meant "replace
the 3rd of the chord with..." Thus you could have "Asus4" which would be
spelled A, D, E, or "Asus2" which would be spelled A, B, E. However the
"sus4" chord was so much more common than the "sus2" chord that
eventually "sus" has become synonymous with "sus4" in most people's
thinking.

I never saw the terminology "A2" until 10 years or so ago. Prior to that
the terminology used was "A add9" (which means A, C#, E, B) or "Asus2".
A2 "should" mean an A chord with the 2 added (A, B, C#, E) but I've
noticed that as it is normally used it is synonymous with Asus2 (A, B,
E).

I hope this has cleared things up rather than made things muddy!
