Re: [Worship] Is it just me?

To edit or not to edit? I think Rick makes some good points. I especially
like this one.

For me the purpose of a worship CD is to create an environment of worship.
What better way than to record an actual worship event? I've done some
studio recording and quite frankly, its a pain. Very rarely do I "feel"
inspried. I try to focus on the Lord but its hard.

We recently released our first live worship CD (preview if you are
interested here http://www.audiblefaith.com/pages/cd000067 ). Much of that
day, I forgot that we were even recording. It was worship for me, not
recording.

We did some overdubs to correct major flaws. We even added a synth part on
one song, but for the most part, we mixed around mistakes and tried to
maintain the integrity of the event. I know one technique is to pre-record
a tract and they play it in front of a crowd with some live instruments and
then go back and overdub. I definitely would not take this route.

We are currently working on a second project of another one of our teams.
It is a blend between live and studio. I know were are planning on going
from live to studio in one cut. It will be interesting to see how it works.
I personally would not try it.

Getting back to the original point that Tony made, I know what he means. It
seems that we are in a bit of a lull as far as "great songs" are concerned.
I haven't heard anything that really blew me away for a while. Perhaps that
has a purpose. Maybe the Lord wants us to focus on Him, not the song.

On a recent thread about intimacy and feelings, two examples of what I think
must have been powerful worship experiences kept coming to me. The first
was in Isaiah 6 where the prophet fell before the Lord and cried "Woe, I am
a man of unclean lips". Wow, talk about an intimate encounter with God.

The second was when Jesus took the sins of mankind upon Himself and was
separated from His Father. I'm sure He wasn't having warm fuzzy feelings at
the time, but this may have been the most profound moment of worship in all
times as He gave Himself over in perfect submission to the will of the One
who sent Him.
