RE: [Worship] Prayer Request - Long

It sure is. I would not be doing this if it were not true.

The message was long so I did not explain. In November the leadership went
on retreat and wrote a mission statement. The mission statement naturally
divides itself into 5 areas. The first of these areas is worship. The
statement says that to worship God is the chief duty of man. All other
things find their root in worship. If worship is right everything else will
fall into place. Starting the first Sunday in January the Sunday school, AM
and PM gatherings will be devoted to one of the five areas. The fist Sunday
is on Worship. Our team is only a small part of very big change. Lord
willing, foundational changes will be taking place, a few will be very and
immediately visable but in the long run not the important ones. Our group is
among this group. I really like my bass and the guitar/drum music but the
shift to God directed worship is what is important.

The congergation is small. We had a very large AM Sunday on Dec 24 when we
had 128 in attendance (the PM service was 70). The leadership group was 12
men, two were paid staff. Given this set up, It would be impossible to keep
anything from the congergation even if we wanted too.

The building in which we meet is two block from the collage campus. On that
side between us and the campus is businesses and frat houses. The change
became obvious when a development group came in and bought up all the
housing on the other side of the building. They tore down all the single
family housing in a two by five block area and put up apartment building
devoted to student housing. There are now 2 thousands students living,
literally on our doorstep.

>> Anyway, I pray for blessings on your new songs and on the church.

Thanks this is really a critical time.
