If it were any human -- she would be right. Point her in the direction of
studying the attributes of God, He is the Only One Who truly belongs in the
place of our object of worship.
Try reading "Knowing God" by JI Packer or "Deisring God" by John Piper.
Both are excellent helps in this area.
Peace,
Carol Wooten

Subject: [Worship] Created To Worship
I am assisting a friend in teaching a Sunday School class using the book,
Exploring Worship, a Practical Guide to Praise and Worship by Bob Sorge.
Someone in the class expressed a thought that she can't seem to get by, and
I
thought I'd throw it out to you for your opinion. She says she gets tripped
up on the wording Created TO Worship. Although she loves the Lord, she says
it sounds egotistical of God to say we are created TO worship Him, and even
wondered if there was a misinterpretation in the Greek or Hebrew language.
We've tried to explain to her that we were created to worship something, and
if it's not the Lord, it's something else. And that actually, it takes our
minds off of self and unto Him, so it's for our benefit, but I don't believe
we've answered her question in a satisfactory way. Any help would be
appreciated.
In His Grip,
Linda
