Fred responds:
Yes I use Allegro and it works just fine. Most of the stuff that it can't do
you're really not going to miss doing lead sheets etc. for worship music.
I'm doing a project now where I really miss the ability to change clefs in
the middle of a measure, but that's not a worship project...

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Hyperscribe tool. Although I had problems using
it on my older, slower computer. It tended to make the system crash for some
reason.

The one guy I know that does this full time for a living uses this method to
notate his stuff. The point I was trying to make is that if you are doing
primarily single-note lines, the midi keyboard isn't really necessary. If
you were doing say, full blown piano or organ arrangements a midi keyboard
may be a necessity, but otherwise...
Once you get the feel of using the computer keyboard you can really fly
using the speedy entry tool. I use my left hand on the arrow keys and right
hand on the numeric keys.
