Re: [Worship] Created To Worship

I've written a few thoughts on this in my Worship Manual. Here's a
quick summary:

One of the key features of worship is that it occurs in the context of
a covenant relationship. God created us to enjoy a relationship with
Him, so that He could share His love with us. He created because it
is in His essential nature to create; He loves because it is in His
essential nature to love, and love requires an object for its
affections in order to be demonstrated. Hardly egotistical. Think
of the absolutely ideal, perfect, 100% happy marriage...

Side effect: because we were created for this relationship (worship
being the overflow of the relationship) if we worship anything else
(idolatry!) things go wrong as a natural consequence (just like
trying to run a car on orange juice) The command to worship God is
simply a statement (or barrier or boundary) recognising the reality
of spiritual choices and consequences, much like the owner's handbook
sets out all kinds of conditions for the correct functioning of your
car (use gasoline!)

if you're so inclined.

Cheers,
