[Worship] Re: Worshippers should be able to sing

Chey & Mike,

I totally agree with you on the matter of singers being able to sing. We
have been mediocre in the church for so long. In fact we are supposed to be
stirring up and fanning into flame the gift that is within us. It is
appauling that we as worshippers do not want to give our very best to God.
Do we realise that the scripture that speaks of making a joyful noise is not
an excuse to hurt God's eardrums!! And I understand that we are not doing a
concert and that our audience is God. Sometimes I have a bad throat and
have no idea how I am going to get through the day much less lead worship
and somehow God miraculously heals and clears my throat up. This is
different because I had something to offer in the beginning. Yes the
anointing does teach us all things. But is skill + the anointing that gives
glory to God. Ofcourse people in the congregation who are not taking part
on the main stage are not expected to sound like angels, but I strongly
believe that we as worshippers must perfect our ministry and stop short
changing God because of His grace. When I first joined the worship team I
didn't have the strongest of voices but I worked at it and took voice
training etc and anything that was going to perfect my ministry. Now I am a
leader and I lead in my church and have the confidence and the ability to
lead nationally. When unbelievers come to our church alot of them are
secular musicians. How do we think we will get them into the knigdom with
our mediocre music, when in the world they get the best training etc. Come
on worshippers RISE UP!!!!! I have not yet arrived by any meanss but I
continue to strive for the excellence that God expects and gives to me also.
God does everything excellently for me. He gives me the best jobs,
houses, car and most of all He has given me the best thing possible,
everlasting life through His Only son Jesus Christ. The least I could do is
to take a few voice lessons and perfect my gifting. I am sorry if my tone
is sounding a little sour but I think this is a very important topic for us
as leaders.

chars.
