Re: [Worship] Question About Disability

Hi
What a beautiful beautiful post. I just feel for you with people not coming
to visit or be with you during your wife's illness. Personally I've been
quite fortunate to have had pretty good experiences for the most part but
part of what got me interested in teaching and learning about disability and
the church was after I met with a bunch of disabled people and heard some
really sad hurtful stories about how they were let down by their church.
The problem is when we aren't salt and light (And I don mean accusing you I
mean all of us me included) is than when people get hurt they leave. And
often they look for another place to find the salt and light they needed.
Because of this I know of some people who now don't have anything to do with
church and know of at least half a dozen others who found the love they
didn't find in church in the Gay and Lesbian community. And that is so sad.
I really think Saint Augustan was right when he said, "Preach the Gospel at
all times and when absolutely necessary use words."
