You're right Earl. IMHO Christianity is not a mask to hide from reality,
it's not a coat of fresh paint to cover the terminal cracks, it's a real
every day nitty gritty let's get on with life with all it's warts faith (and
I wonder sometimes just what I would have done if I had to face everything
I've had to deal with recently without God in my life!)

Some of the psalms really tell it how it is!

One that just caught my eye is Ps 120 vs 6&7. "I have lived too long with
people who hate peace, when I speak of peace they are for war." Then there's
"cruel persecutors.... enemies and opressors....traitors....disgust....
treated with contempt...living among you is as bad as living in Meshech".
All the above on just 2 pages of my Bible! It's not "Jesus wants me for a
sunbeam" theology (tho I have sung that along with the best of them...) but
scriptures found in the book of Psalms can and do help give a broader view.
