Re: [Worship] singable keys
I have a mezzo-soprano range (I *can* sing 1st soprano, but am much more
comfy in 2nd Sop and Alto), so I'm pretty flexible with what key I'm in, but
when I lead alone, I tend to tune a lot of songs down a step or two, just so
I'm comfortable and not screeching. (The bridge to Ancient Of Days would be
a nightmare otherwise...!) However, I often make a conscious effort to put
things a touch higher than is *totally* laid-back-comfortable (I'd put
everything in the low-middle of my range if I had my way), in order to give
songs a little more energy.
I suppose changing keys is easier for me because I never lead playing an
instrument (I don't like the distraction and there are plenty of
instrumentalists much better than I am anyway) so it's just up to the
musicians I'm working with to adapt to the key I've determined.
Wow - a team that *wants* hard stuff?! **BOGGLE** What amazing and curious
blessings we have! It's a challenging blessing, in a backwards kinda way..!
Ah, God is fantastic. :o)
