They did the translation work and don't want to see it misused or taken
advantage of. Just like the author of a song, they've done the sweating
and elbow work so you can use it.
If you contact them, which I've done, you'll find that they want the
scripture to be used and have no problem with people using it. They've
also told me that I don't need permission if I'm only using small passages
and am not reproducing it in a publication. Even when I did quote multiple
verses and passages in an adult Bible memory program I published, they
only asked that I print the copyright material in the front and left it at
that. The only time there are issues involved is if someone used large
portions for reproduction or misused it.
