It may be an honest request but an insensitive one. Did you read the whole post? The pastor called Brother Steve on his job to make this request at short notice. This clearly shows a lack of respect for Steve's responsibilities to his employer, and for his ministry. I am sure if the request was reversed, that is, Steve asking his pastor for the last minute changes or additions, the story would be quite different.

And why not? What needs to be understood here is that the primary responsibility during work hours is to the employer. And this should be made clear regardless of who the person might be, pastor or not. I don't think Bro Michael was throwing darts. Your gesture is a good one to assist Steve in his hour of need, but this sends the wrong signals to his pastor that this can be done again and again.
