Hi Catherine:
I am suffering a violent cold at the moment and don't feel well, so if my
reply not well thought out forgive me since no one has replied I thought I
would.
Honestly, I believe that Paul was excercising his freedom in Christ to be
respectful of those who have not realized the fullfilment of the Law. Same
with Timothy being circumcised, it was expediant for ministry to do so. Paul
knew there was nothing in circumcision but a cutting away of flesh so when
it happened it wasn't Paul setting aside grace as some would suppose, but
rather a greater excercise of freedom to not be an offense. I have no doubt
Paul was following God in the passage you refer to.
As far as the Heb 8:13, read chapt 9 and you will get the full meaning, The
Law is good and perfect we learn in scripture. The whole Law was not done
away with, what was is the ordinances and cerimonies as Christ is the
fullfilment, these were shadows or outward demonstration of the Gospel
message and earthly in purpose. Only Christ could save us from the curse and
penalty of the Law, but not to abolish it. Remember this as well, the Law
and the ordanaces are not necessarily synonymous. The 10 Commandments is the
Law that never went away - the ordanances also called the law were practical
in nature and also were to set Israel apart from all other nations to make
them pecular. The cerimonies and feasts were also law - but were special
occassions of rememberence and foward looking to God's plan of salvation and
redemption.

Hey, if someone could help me on this one, I'd appreciate it.
>Actually, JESUS threw away the old covenant Hebrews 8:13 says as much: "By
>calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what
is
>obsolete and aging will soon disappear."
What can you tell me about Acts 21: approx verse 17-22 where Paul went with
and paid the way for his fellow Jews to buy sacrifices and then go to
Temple?
Do you think Paul made a wise decision in doing what the people wanted him
to
do? (Someone, perhaps not God in this case, told him what to do.) Was the
calamity of him being thrown into prison the result of listening to man or
God's
plan for his ministry at that point?
Grace and peace,
Catherine
